Narcissus I really struggled with getting started on a daffodil themed drawing this year.  This year, I had the blooms from the daffodils we planted after our wedding last fall.  These flowers help to cheer me up every year after I slowly fall into a winter's depression.  The spring has been fierce to drive back the cold this year and I have long since recovered. I had several ideas that included doing a remake of Dancing Ophelia drawing from the first year I returned to drawing.  I have long had issues with confidence and self image and I like to use the story of Narcissus to express my lack of feelings of self love.  The thing is though..

Going to ramble a bit here.  I'm sleep deprived but I've been meaning to make an entry for a while.  It has been almost 3 years since I started drawing again.  It has been an amazing journey.  It took me all this time of experimenting to figure out how I like to draw and what my "style" is.  I put that in quotation marks because although I limit my exposure to other artists I see a re-occuring theme and feeling.  That is that they don't feel good enough. I think I use gifts to push my limits.  In trying to make things that others would like, I often go way outside my comfort zone.  This time it was line art and a more comic style.  I'm not much into comics or manga.  I enjoy the occasional anime.  Have I ever really drawn or doodled in this style... no.  It is a very different way of looking at things.  In some ways its simplified but in that simplicity you have to pick and choose what expresses things the best.  Which lines are important. azEIRath metrion zinthos!
